Tableau Software Offers Direct Connectivity to SAP HANA, Continues to Set the Standard for Bringing Big Data to Life

Connect-and-Go Experience Ensures Fast, Easy Big Data Analytics

Publish Date:

Tableau Software, the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software, today announced integration with SAP HANA, SAP’s in-memory computing platform. Tableau made the announcement at SAPPHIRE NOW + SAP TechEd Global in Madrid. Tableau connects directly to SAP HANA providing a fast connect-and-go experience to data, no matter how big or complex.

SAP HANA is an in-memory database allowing SAP customers to operate in real-time. It streamlines transactions, analytics, planning, predictive, and sentiment data processing. Tableau’s visual analytics software now includes a native direct and interactive connection to SAP HANA, allowing business users to easily tap into data and start visualizing and analyzing in just a few clicks. This type of real-time analysis means decision makers can see what’s happening and react now rather than waiting for data to refresh, losing valuable time and resources. With Tableau’s interactive connection data is always current. No import scripts to write; no additional data silo’s created; no time delays in the business users having immediate access to their critical SAP data.

In addition to standard tables and views, Tableau also supports SAP HANA Modeling views, including Attribute Views, Analytical Views and Calculation Views that enable users to create rich multi-dimensional analytics and views of data while benefiting from optimal performance of HANA’s in-memory capabilities.

“SAP HANA accelerates business processes, allowing customers to make smarter decisions based on their Big Data assets in real-time,” said Dan Jewett, Vice President of Product Management at Tableau Software. “Tableau brings that data to life with interactive visual analytics, quickly unlocking the business value and enabling informed business decisions.”

Earlier this year, Tableau announced SAP Certification for Integration with SAP NetWeaver Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW), allowing users to directly connect to their SAP enterprise data warehouse and develop deeper insights into their business. The additional data connection option now available to SAP HANA directly will expand the opportunities for businesses to work with their data – either in the modeled environment of SAP BW InfoCubes, or via the SQL interface exposed by the SAP HANA connection.

The HANA connector is available starting with Tableau 7.0.9.
