Tableau Server Now Available in Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace

By Dan Kogan 2016/04/04

In December 2015, we announced support for Tableau Server on Microsoft Azure’s virtual machines. Since that time, we’ve seen a number of customers choose to deploy Tableau across their enterprise through Microsoft Azure.

Today, we’re excited to offer our customers another option for getting Tableau Server up and running in Azure in just a few clicks through preconfigured images available in Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace:

We’ve found these pre-configured Marketplace deployment options to be a great way for customers to get Tableau Server up and running in the cloud environment of their choice. It’s a simple way to trial Tableau Server, and we see many customers continue these trials into full production deployments. Some also switch over to a self-deployment option of Tableau Server with more customization and control around the virtual machines, storage, and integration with items like Active Directory.

Tableau Server in Azure Marketplace is only available through a “bring your own license” model. So no matter how you choose to deploy Tableau Server, we’re keeping the procurement straightforward and through your existing Tableau purchasing agreement.

You can find more detailed guidance on deploying Tableau Server in Azure in this whitepaper. Please give it a spin and let us know what you think! And if you’re looking at deploying Tableau Server in Azure, you may also want to leverage Microsoft for their data platform. If so, check out our integrations with Microsoft’s Azure Data Service such as HDInsight or Azure SQL Data Warehouse as well as some of the really impressive performance results we just published for Tableau with SQL Server 2016.
