Tableau Software CFO Named as Finalist in Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2012 CFO of the Year Awards

Tom Walker, CFO of Tableau Software, the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software, has been named a finalist in the Puget Sound Business Journal’s (PSBJ) CFO of the Year Awards. The CFO of the Year Awards are given to the financial professionals in Washington for outstanding performance in their roles as corporate financial stewards.

Walker oversees all of the finance, operations, human resources, legal and administration functions at Tableau. He joined in 2004 as the company’s eighth employee.

“One consistent trait among most, if not all, successful companies is strong leadership from the CFO,” said Business Journal Publisher Gordon Prouty. “Too often they are the unsung heroes providing the strategic guidance and expertise behind their company’s performance. Tableau recently announced that it doubled bookings year over year, posting 104 percent bookings growth in the fourth quarter of 2011 and 94 percent growth for the year. This marks Tableau’s eighth year of record sales. Tableau also grew its worldwide customer base by 40 percent in 2011 and now has more than 7,000 organizations using its fast analytics products.

In 2011, Walker oversaw a rapid rate of hiring growth at Tableau, as the staff nearly doubled from 190 to 350 employees. The company also expanded its headquarters in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle and established offices in Kirkland, WA, and London. Tableau has an office in Menlo Park, CA as well, and presence in France, Germany and Asia Pacific. In 2012, the company plans to hire 300 additional employees.
