Tableau developed the Tableau Test Utility (TabTest) in direct
response to requests from end users for a mechanism to test and validate
Tableau products. TabTest fulfills this demand by visually guiding the
user step-by-step through scripted tests to validate the functionality of
Tableau forensic bridges (a.k.a. write blockers).
After the user connects a Tableau forensic bridge to the host computer,
TabTest automatically detects the model of the forensic bridge and begins
the appropriate test procedure. The test procedure validates the proper
operation of each of the bridge's host and device ports, the bridge's
internal data path, and the bridge's write-blocking functionality.
TabTest produces a detailed test log for each test performed.
Any problems found during testing will be displayed on screen to the user
and recorded as a failure in the test log. TabTest can print or save the
test log to a file for inclusion in equipment and/or case documentation.
If a problem is found during testing, the user can send the test log to
Tableau (or one of Tableau's resellers) to assist in troubleshooting.
IMPORTANT: There are some areas in which TabTest is still a little "rough around
the edges." Even so, TabTest provides valuable functionality and Tableau
would like to solicit early feedback from its end users. Please be patient
with this "beta" version of TabTest and give Tableau your feedback. The
success of this utility will rely heavily on user feedback regarding the
functionality, compatibility, clarity of instructions, and information provided.
Please refer to the revision history at the left for further usage information and tips.
We need your feedback (positive or negative) to make TabTest a success, so please
send your input to Tableau Support at support@tableau.com.
The Tableau Test Utility is a free download for Microsoft Windows XP or later.
Give it a try to discover how it can improve your forensic processes.
