Tableau President to Lead Dedicated Business Unit Focused on Forensic Software and Hardware
PASADENA, Calif., May 10, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: GUID) today announced
it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Tableau, LLC, a privately-held
developer and manufacturer of computer forensic hardware. This acquisition extends Guidance Software's existing
leadership in computer forensics technology by combining software with hardware for a complete forensic framework
for the law enforcement, legal and corporate communities.
The purchase price for this transaction was $12.3 million in cash. The assets of Tableau include cash of $1.6 million.
Guidance Software expects this transaction to increase previous revenue guidance by $3 million and be $0.03 accretive to
its non-GAAP earnings per share in 2010. The acquisition closed May 7, 2010.
Guidance Software customers now have access to a family of data-acquisition products - tools to gather evidence and
other data - including multiple "write blocker" products, forensic duplicators and other hardware. Write-blockers protect
data while it is being collected during the computer forensic process, eliminating any risk of changing the data -
especially useful in criminal cases and other legal investigations. Tableau has sold more than 100,000 write-blockers

Forensic software," said Victor Limongelli, president and chief executive officer, Guidance Software. "The acquisition
serves our key strategic aim to strengthen our leadership position in the computer forensics market. Customers should
benefit from a broadened product line addressing the complete forensic process, with improved interoperability and
best-in-class performance."
Guidance Software also has created a forensic business unit, headed by former President of Tableau Robert Botchek.
The business unit is dedicated to continuing Guidance Software's leadership in computer forensics by developing and
delivering software and hardware products trusted by forensic, law enforcement, defense, and intelligence organizations
worldwide.
"Forensic users want a vendor focused on their needs, and that's exactly what we will give them with the new forensic
business unit," said Botchek, now senior vice president of Forensic Solutions at Guidance Software. "Our mission is simple:
listen to users and apply our combined talents in software and hardware to tailor EnCase products for their needs."
In addition to the forensic business unit's focus on the needs of law enforcement and other computer forensics customers,
Guidance Software will continue to invest in its EnCase(R) eDiscovery and EnCase(R) Cybersecurity products, as well as its
EnCase(R) Enterprise platform, which is trusted by more than 800 customers. These product lines continue to be a major
focus, and represent an important growth opportunity.

| | | | | | | | | | First Portable Hardware Write-Blocker for FireWire Devices Announced (13 May 2009)
WAUKESHA, WI, May 15, 2009 -
Tableau, LLC, the leader in forensic imaging products, today announced availability of its T9 Forensic FireWire Bridge.
The T9, the forensic industry's first portable hardware FireWire write blocker, enables the imaging of FireWire/1394 storage devices
and Apple Macintosh® computers in an easy, efficient, and forensically sound manner. Designed and built for field or lab use, the T9
reduces the risk of damage to evidence by eliminating the need to disassemble FireWire/1394 devices prior to imaging.
"With the development of the T9, we've given examiners another easy to use tool that will improve acquisition efficiency,"
said Jim Borecki, Tableau's Vice President of Marketing and Sales." Connect the T9 to your imaging workstation or laptop using either
FireWire or USB, connect the FireWire device you need to image, and you are ready to acquire evidence."
A key feature of the T9 is its ability to recognize multiple logical units (LUNs) - especially common when imaging Apple computers
in Target Disk Mode. When a multiple-LUN device is detected, the T9 prompts the user to select the desired LUN for imaging. The T9's
approach to multiple-LUN support bridges architectural differences between operating systems like Microsoft Windows®, Linux, and Apple's OS X.
As with all Tableau products, the T9 is fully supported by Tableau's Firmware Update and Disk Monitor utilities. According
to Tableau's President, Robert Botchek, "Tableau has a long history of issuing firmware updates to enhance features, to expand
device compatibility, and even to fix bugs. Our commitment to continued firmware support--even for older products--assures
customers that they will get years of service from our products."
Additional product information and technical specifications can be found on the T9
product page.

| | | | | | | | | | TACC1441 Support for Recovering Office2007 Passwords Available Today (18 February 2008)
WAUKESHA, WI, February 18, 2008 -
Effective immediately, Tableau announces TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator support for Office2007 password recovery.
In today's world, recovering sensitive data from password protected documents is of ever-increasing importance.
Office2007, which now supports data protection built upon Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit and SHA-1 hashing,
increases the data recovery challenges faced by intelligence, security, and forensic professionals world-wide.
Specialized tools are required in the battle to access sensitive data for key intelligence investigations and forensic
analysis. Tableau's TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator is a high-performance product that offers the broadest set of decryption
support available today.
"Office2007 offers easier-to-use encryption which exceeds the 40-bit limits most often addressed with rainbow tables,"
said Robert Botchek, Tableau's President. "The TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator, which we developed in partnership with
AccessData, is a product that can save precious time during a data sensitive investigation or intelligence operation."
TACC1441 support for Office2007 and OneNote is available for immediate download from AccessData's web site.

| | | | | | | | | | PRTK 6x - 60x Faster with Tableau TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator (24 August 2007)
WAUKESHA, WI, August 24, 2007 -
In preparation for the September 4, 2007, launch of the TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator, Tableau has performed extensive benchmark testing
using AccessData's PRTK v6.3. The performance gains from the TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator are impressive.
The patent-pending, 16-cell FPGA-based Tableau TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator is designed to accelerate the dictionary-based attacks
of leading password recovery applications such as AccessData's PRTK and DNA.
Benchmark testing has been conducted using PRTK v6.3 running on a variety of modern, Pentium® and Core2® systems
configured with and without the Tableau TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator.
"In our benchmark testing, systems with the TACC1441 accelerator were able to process many more passwords per second than
identical systems without acceleration," indicated Jim Borecki, Tableau's Marketing and Sales Vice President. "As measured in terms of
passwords per second, systems with a single TACC1441 accelerator improved
PRTK performance up to 60 times that of non-accelerated systems. For our customers this translates to higher password recovery
success rates. Moreover, by adding TACC to existing systems, our customers will be able to extend the lifetime of their
existing CPUs."
Benchmark testing has also confirmed that multiple TACC1441 units can be used with a single CPU. For encrypted file
formats including WinZip, PGP, and WinRAR, performance gains are nearly linear through three, and in some cases four
TACC1441 accelerators. For example, a Core2® Quad-core system with four TACC1441 accelerators yields in excess of
250,000 WinZip9 passwords per second compared to 1,000 - 2,500 passwords per second for a Pentium® system.
Shipments of the TACC1441 Hardware Accelerator will begin on September 4, 2007.

Tableau introduces the highly anticipated Tableau Disk Monitor software.
The Tableau Disk Monitor (TDM) is a Windows application designed to improve the
efficiency of the data acquisition process by automating the collection of key storage
disk and Tableau Forensic Bridge information. TDM has the ability to track the physical
storage devices currently attached to your computer system, giving an examiner the ability
to capture, display, export to file, and print a report containing a range of technical
information about each storage device. Information collected about the storage device
includes make, model, serial number, true storage capacity, and even the HPA/DCO
capacities for IDE and SATA devices. In addition, information pertaining to the
Tableau Forensic Bridges used in the acquisition is captured and displayed.
"We previewed the Tableau Disk Monitor at the recent HTCIA and Techno Forensics conferences,"

WAUKESHA, WI, October 2, 2006 -
United States Congressman Mark Green, a candidate for Wisconsin Governor in November,
visited the Tableau offices today to discuss his proposed healthcare initiatives with key members
of the Wisconsin media.
Tableau was selected as the site of Congressman Green's healthcare announcement because it is
a growing, high-tech, Wisconsin-based business, and annual healthcare cost increases represent a factor which could
constrain growth. A key element of Congressman Green's proposed healthcare initiatives is
Health Savings Accounts (HSA's), and HSAs are a core element of the Tableau medical plan.
"We pride ourselves on being a growing, high-tech business that offers our employees leading-edge, flexible healthcare options,"
said Robert Botchek, Tableau President. "HSA's are a key element used by our employees to protect their families and control healthcare
costs. We were happy to host this event to help publicize the advantages offered by HSA medical insurance plans."
During the session, the Tableau staff had the opportunity to discuss the realities of the healthcare market and how
HSA accounts play a role in managing their personal and family healthcare consumer behavior. The meeting
concluded with a question and answer session led by the local media, focusing in on Congressman Green's healthcare
proposals.

is providing Tableau forensic bridges to students of its annual Certified
Computer Forensic Examiner Course.
Students at IACIS' 2005 Certified Computer Forensic Examiner Course
are receiving Tableau T14 FireWire800 IDE Pocket Bridges. The
T14 units are being made available to IACIS through one of Tableau's
premier distributors, Digital Intelligence; and the T14 units distributed
at the 2005 IACIS event carry Digital Intelligence FireFly(tm)
branding.
Students at last year's IACIS event received Tableau T5
FireWire800+USB2.0 IDE Bridges. The T5 units for IACIS' 2004 event were
also made available to IACIS through
Digital Intelligence, and those units carried the Digital Intelligence
UltraBlock-IDE brand.
According to Tableau's President, Robert Botchek, "It's gratifying to
see how enthusiastically the computer forensics community has embraced
Tableau's products. It makes us feel good when a major organization
like IACIS selects our products, not just once, but twice."
Tableau manufactures a full line of forensic bridges for use with
IDE, SATA, and SCSI hard disks.
The IACIS 2005 Certified Computer Forensic Examiner
Course begins April 27, 2005, in Orlando, FL.

BROOKFIELD, WI, March 1, 2004 -
Tableau announced that volume shipments of its much-
anticipated T4 FireWire800+USB2.0 SCSI Bridge will begin
this week.
The T4 is the latest bridge product from Tableau purpose-
built for computer forensics applications. The T4 supports
both LVD (Low-Voltage Differential) and SE (Single-Ended) SCSI
devices, with SCSI burst rates up to 80MBytes/second when using
LVD devices. Moreover, the T4 offers "jumperless" operation,
automatically scanning the SCSI bus for devices and eliminating
the need to change jumpers on subject hard drives.
According to the company, pre-orders for the Tableau
T4 have been very strong, corresponding with strong sales
of the company's companion forensic products, the T3
FireWire800 SATA and T5 FireWire800+USB2.0 IDE
Bridges.
Tableau expects its resellers will be able to start shipping
the T4 FireWire800+USB2.0 SCSI Bridge to end users the week of
March 8, 2004.

| | | | | | | | | | Tableau announces SATA, SCSI, and IDE forensic bridges (5 Jan 2004)
BROOKFIELD, WI, January 5, 2004 -
Tableau today introduced its first family of bridge products
purpose-built for the needs of the computer forensics community.
The family includes Tableau's T3 FireWire800 SATA Bridge,
Tableau's T4 FireWire800+USB2.0 SCSI Bridge, and
Tableau's T5 FireWire800+USB2.0 IDE Bridge.
The Tableau FireWire800 SATA Bridge is the first native FireWire
SATA bridge on the market. By mating FireWire800 to SATA (Serial ATA),
the Tableau T3 gives users the ability to run SATA drives at peak
performance, reducing imaging time. Being a native SATA implementation,
the T3 eliminates adapters and other attachments needed to connect
older parallel ATA (IDE) bridges to modern SATA hard drives.
The Tableau T4 FireWire800+USB2.0 SCSI Bridge is also an industry first.
The Tableau T4 is designed to burst up to 80MBytes/second
(when using the FireWire800 interface), making it by far the fastest
FireWire-SCSI bridge ever developed. By combining FireWire800 and
USB2.0 interfaces in one design, the Tableau T4 also offers maximum
convenience for imaging both single-ended and LVD SCSI devices.
The Tableau T5 FireWire800+USB2.0 IDE Bridge brings Tableau's unique
product philosophy to the traditional IDE hard drive interface.
The Tableau T5 shares common packaging and a common technical
architecture with the Tableau T3 and T4. All three Tableau products
use the OXUF922 from Oxford Semiconductor, the premier vendor of
bridging semiconductor products. And Tableau has invested
heavily in developing custom hardware and firmware, making Tableau's
products the finest, most complete and robust bridge solutions
available today.
The Tableau T3 FireWire800 SATA Bridge and T5 FireWire800+USB2.0 IDE
Bridge and currently in production, with shipments beginning in
mid-January, 2004. The Tableau T4 FireWire800+USB2.0 SCSI Bridge
will be available in late February, 2004. Tableau sells its products
exclusively through dealers, VARs, and distributors.
