Phil Heinrich at City of DC Wins Cafritz Award

The Cafritz Awards honor "individuals whose performance exemplifies the best in public service." We'd like to congratulate Philip Heinrich at the City of DC, one of this year's winners. Phil pioneered the use of Tableau Software in the City of DC, analyzing everything from ambulances to reading improvement in schools.

This presentation shows a selection of DC's work with Tableau as part of its Capstat project. CapStat is dedicated to improving incident information between emergency operation centers in our nation's capital.

The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Awards for Distinguished DC Government Employees is an annual program designed to recognize and reward outstanding performance and exemplary service by DC Government employees. Established in 2000, the Awards are presented to five individuals who play a critical, yet in many cases, unseen role of providing outstanding service to the citizens of Washington, DC. The Awards honor individuals whose contributions have been exceptional and whose commitment and professionalism demonstrate the best in public service.

The District of Columbia has also used Tableau to visualize schools information and drivers’ licensing data, as well as to create dashboards for the city administrator. At Tableau we're fans of both data visualization and more efficient, open government. It's great to see them working together.
