Tableau 6.1 and Tableau Mobile are Live!

By Ellie Fields July 31, 2011

It's official! The Tableau 6.1 release, complete with new iPad app and native mobile Safari capability, is live. Read more and find videos and other resources at the Tableau 6.1 web page.

Tableau 6.1 is no minor release. In addition to Tableau's new mobile capability, 6.1 marks

  • The first localized release of Tableau Desktop (bonjour and guten tag to our French and German customers)
  • New features to help you work with big data, from incremental extract updates to improved performance on high-cardinality data sets
  • A host of usability improvements for authors, like the sleeper hit of the 6.1 release, "View data everywhere."

Tableau 6.1 live on the road!

Tableau 6.1 is now an experienced traveler, having been on the road.to , Chicago, D.C. and a host of other cities.

If you missed a live event, catch a live or recorded webinar. And check out the new features website.

Where will you go mobile?

I want to try Tableau Mobile. I have a Tableau Public email address and password to log in, but which server sould I type.

Sincerely,

Héctor, the Tableau Mobile app is currently designed for Tableau Server - but we put in the "Gallery" tab specifically so that people without Server could still get a quick sample. To view your Tableau Public vizes, you'll have to use the iPad's Safari browser for the moment.

Thank you, James.

Hi

would be great if the Tableau App could also take twbx files (and the like) as input instead of only client-server interaction. Would greatly enhance the mobility of Tableau. For instance, open tableau files from the email directly in the app-reader...

Is there any way I can run Tableau in an offline mode on the iPad? i.e. have a local database or extract file and use that when offline, then use the server when online?
